Laurel Dubois was the biological mother of Randall Pearson who had died of an aggressive terminal tumor in 2015 at her girlhood lake house with her longtime boyfriend at her side.

History[]

William moved to Pittsburgh in order to help his ailing mother Dorothy, and that's where he met Randall's biological mother, Laurel, on a bus.

After William's mother passes away, Laurel gets him into the drug world and he becomes addicted to heroin. Sometime right after Randall's birth, Laurel had a heroin overdose. William calls for paramedics to help, but after multiple attempts to resuscitate Laurel, the paramedics assume she is dead. They notify William that they would call child services due to Laurel's actions which in panic, forces him to flee with baby Randall. Right after he flees, Laurel comes back to life, surviving her overdose. She was then arrested for possession and in jail for five years.

Upon her release in 1985, she decided not to look for her young son (who was now five) as she believed that she deserved to be punished for forfeiting her right to be a mother. She then spent the rest of days at her girlhood home and reconnected with Hai some years after his wife had died. They were together until she herself had died from the aggressive tumor she had with her final moments were thinking about her grown son.
